Bed Bath & Beyond Offers University Shopping Solutions for Campus & Beyond

The preparations for living in residence or off-campus housing can be a fun but overwhelming experience for both students and parents. Bed Bath & Beyond™ is the destination for campus essentials, providing students and parents with products and solutions that make the shopping experience easy and enjoyable. Post-secondary shoppers are greeted with our knowledgeable experts and a wide assortment of stylish products to get everything a student needs within budget.

These key tips from Campus & Beyond™ will make for a smooth university shopping experience.
Shopping Prep 101—Know Before You Go
Step 1. Research School Rules: Students should research their school specific rules and regulations before shopping. Check with your school for do’s and don’ts before starting your university shopping plan. This will help avoid purchasing items that a school won’t allow or the school may already provide. We’ve researched all the major Universities and have this information available in stores.
Step 2. Master the Checklist& Budget: University shoppers preparing to furnish a residence or off-campus home should use a checklist to stay organized and on budget. It breaks down all the essentials students need to bring for their bed, in-room organization, bathroom, studying and for snacking or dining in their new digs. Bed Bath & Beyond offers a campus and beyond shopping checklist that can be found in all stores or online.
Step 3. Roommate Tag Team: Once a student receives their housing assignment, they should reach out to their future roommate(s). They should decide ahead of time who will be bringing what items to the room for community use, and decide if/how they want to coordinate their style. Creating an online registry gives parents, grandparents, family and friends great tips on what to get students for graduation. The online registry can also allow students to share with their roommate the bedding patterns and other items they’ve selected for their room.

Step 4. Shop Here, Pick up There: Bed Bath & Beyond has a great FREE service, “Shop Here, Pick up There”, to help students easily get their stuff to school. The service is especially beneficial for students going to school far away from home, by plane, train or automobile. Students can shop for all their student housing essentials at a store near home and have everything ready to pick up at our store near campus.

Style &Solutions Guide 101

Sleep in Style & Comfort:

The bed is the biggest and most important décor statement in a residence room and it’s where students spend the majority of their time. Bed Bath & Beyond has a wide assortment of bedding styles in complete sets with coordinating pillows and sheets. Orla Kiely’s Stem Bed Set and the Amelia Dorm Kit can add a feminine touch while a pattern like Nautica’s Biscayne Bay is more masculine.

For a truly modern take on bedding style, Bed Bath and Beyond has partnered with Threadless (an innovative crowd-sourced design community) producing a line of bedding accessories with bold, inventive design elements.

Comfort is key when it comes to the bed for power naps to increase brain power. Standard issue mattresses tend to be only 6-inches thick, often made of plastic, and provide little support. Make a big difference by adding a layer of comfort with a memory foam topper or fibre bed support.

Mattresses are used by different residents year after year so it’s important to have a mattress protector (that protects the mattress against bed bugs!) like the Allergy Luxe® or Protex Premium Bed Bug Mattress Protector.

The mattresses in some residences have twin extra-long mattresses which require twin extra-long sheets. Students should make sure to confirm whether the mattresses in their residence are standard twin size or twin extra-long prior to purchase. Regardless of the length, at Bed Bath & Beyond, students can choose from cotton and alternative fabrics in a variety of colours and styles.

Organize all that “Stuff”:
Students will have a lot less space in residence and will have to share it too. Luckily, there are some great ways to create more room by using storage and organizational items under the bed, over the door and in the closet. The Cube Grid and Three Drawer Rolling Cart are stylish and simple ways to organize belongings.

Residence room closets are notoriously small and Real Simple’s Slimline Hangers allow students to hang more clothing per unit of space, and a double hanging rod doubles the space!

An over-the-door shoe rack keeps shoes organized without taking up more closet space. Use an array of specialized over the door hooks to store hats, purses or towels.

Where allowed, maximize the under bed space with bed risers to fit more storage bins for sweaters, t-shirts and accessories.

Look Fresh & Impress:

In addition to having a nice residence room, students will want to feel good about the way they look too—especially when meeting new people.

Students should have all the comforts of home including personal care items. Girls should bring essential hair styling tools like the Conair™ Infiti Pro Hair Dryer and You Wave Ultra Waver. The guys should bring a shaver like the Philips PowerTouch Shaver to look fresh for class.

Students will need a shower caddy to keep all of their products organized. Since they will be sharing the space with other residents, this is the easiest way to get your items to and from the shower.
Stay Connected:

The Vivitar® Laptop Cooling Pad is a great way to prevent laptops from overheating as you chat online or type up a paper.

Students can use an iHome® Clock Radio to listen to their favorite music, set an alarm for class, charge their devices or listen to the radio.

With lots of devices to plug-in, students can use the Quirky™ Pivot Power Surge Protector. It’san adjustable surge protector with six outlets that can bend and flex. Plugs won't overlap, and it can be adjusted around furniture and other hard-to-reach places.
